tough economy it might be tempting to risk a ticket and to drive without auto insurance but not only is that against the law and will result in a stiff fine, it also puts your family in danger as well.

Ok so let’s start with what New Jersey Automobile Insurance is required for you to be within the law. You may have heard the name SR 22 which is what most people recognize as the basic insurance that is required by law. The name SR 22 refers to the insurance form for this basic coverage. New Jersey has something called the No Fault Law which requires that you have $10,000 in property damage coverage and $10,000 in personal injury protection as well. If you have any questions about what is required you can contact the New Jersey Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Department as they oversee those requirements. Believe it not New Jersey is actually not as strict as some other states when it comes to what the minimum requirement for auto insurance is.

There are a couple of things you need to be careful of when looking for New Jersey automobile insurance. If you bought car insurance in another state that coverage should be ok in New Jersey if they are a major company. But if you
bought insurance from a small carrier in another state it might not qualify in New Jersey if the company is not licensed to do business there. This is usually only a problem if you are not dealing with major insurers. So what happens if
you are pulled over without insurance? In New Jersey you will be fined $150 for each time you are found driving without insurance and that amount does usually go up with each violation. Also even if you do not drive your car often, unlike some other states, in New Jersey you must have insurance.

New Jersey automobile insurance is a necessity not an option but that doesn’t mean you just have to take any policy. You can use the internet to get quotes on coverage for you and your vehicle and compare the best policies. Take the time to find the best insurance coverage available so that when you need to file a claim your homework will really pay off.
