best cars fopr cheap car insurance!?

HI! im 17 and currently learning how to drive!
i was going 2 be put down as a named driver on one of my parents cars when i had passed but the insurance cost is insanely expensive! so my parents r going 2 buy a new car with a lower insurance cost, but we have no idea which one would be cheap for me on the insurance?!

if anyone knows of any cars which would be cheap for a new driver please help!

thanks!

The lowest you will get are insurance catergory 1 cars which include:
The Citroen C1 / Peugeot 107 / Toyota Aygo (inc 1.4 Litre Diesel)
The Citroen C2 (1.1Litre models)
The Vauxhall Corsa (1.0 Litre models)
The Skoda Fabria (1.2 Litre).
The Volkswagen Fox (1.2 Litre)

It is generally the 1 Litre petrol engines (there abouts) that are cheapest to insure. Hope this helps.

Basically anything that has a small engine and no modifications done to it so am afraid cars like Audi tt etc are out if you buy it from Arnold Clark etc they sometimes do deals where you get a free years insurance

I am glad to see it is your parents car if it is them that want the new car I was quite pleasantly surprised that when I bought a Toyota Avensis I thought it would be more expensive to insure than a Peugeot 307sw but not so it was a lot cheaper.
you need to look at the tax engine size to body weight & running costs too because bigger engine cars can be cheaper by not working at full stretch with better MPG and don’t wear out so quickly as a small car pulling heavy loads around. Please drive carefully the insurance is high for your age group because you do have more accidents thus causing the insurance companies to pay out which of course they pass on.

A maximum cc of 1.1 (ideally 1.0 or less), not too new, not too big and not too expensive. Look at Fiat Cinquecentos, Pandas, Ford Fiestas, Vauxhall Corsas, Kia Prides.

You can also check vehicle insurance group ratings on sites such as Autotrader which will help identify the types of cars to look at, and which ones to avoid until you’re abit older and have some No Claims Bonus (NCB) under your belt.

    Good luck!

anything with a small engine – up to 1200cc ould be probably best option – an older model – and third party fire and theft cover. Build up one year no claim discount in that – your premiums will drop – then you can go for the more boy racer car. be careful in it tho!!!!!!!!!
