Okay im soon taking my driving lessons so i can learn to drive to and from college as my mom recently had an accident and it has put her off driving so she cant take me no more.
Im looking for a cheap car, low running costs and lowest insurance as possible. I dont really earn much being on a minimum wage.
Please give me advice with links!!!!
Thank you
Best place to look would be auto trader or even your local newspaper.
You should be able to pick up a cheap car thats nothing special probably a 1.2 or 1.3L for about £500
Insurance may be a little high for your first time, but places like tesco or virgin do the best deals ive found.
At least if you buy a cheapo to start with if you do bang it etc its not a big worry. ( Or even if it breaks )
Hope this helps in any way.

Go to WHSmith
Purchase "Parkers Guide" – (older vehicle issue rather than the standard nwer vehicle issue)
When looking at cars take with you a mate who works in a garage.
Insist on a recent MOT.

Be prepared to have your eyes taken out with your insurance. You will be looking at least £1000+ to insure a 1.1 Litre Ford Fiesta for a year in your name. Very few insurance companies will insure 17 year old drivers. I don’t blame them really.

Hi there,
Being in a family with alot of experienced drivers, I’d highly recommend any small Japanese car (Besides Suzuki) such as one of the following. It is easy to pick any of these up for £700 – £1000.
Nissan Micra
Mazda 121
Toyota Starlet
They are cheap to run maintain and insure and they’re much more reliable than your more common cheap cars which tend to be more expensive to maintain in the long run such as which i’d recommend you to avoid strongly such as Corsa’s, Punto’s, KA’s or Saxo’s. Although they maybe initially cheaper to buy you will find you will be visiting the garage alot with old french / italian / british cars.
Check my sources for reviews on my suggested cars.

There’s plenty of small cars around which are cheap to buy and run but insurance is based not only on your car but your experience and what you may hit by way of vehicle type, make and model if involved in an accident so your insurance may cost more than the car.
You should try obtaining some internet quotations for insurance using small cars like Seat Arosa, VW Lupo, Fiat Cinquecento (or whatever) and some of the Jap makes as already suggested.
