Blues music does not include the rigidities of classical music but is one of the most unique forms of music and very heartfelt too. All the flashiness of metal, rock and pop genres of music are excluded from the blues music. In the initial years which included the second and the third decade of the 20th century the blues guitar was dominated by the fancies of musicians like Robert Johnson and Blind Lemon Jefferson. Emphasis was laid on slide guitar techniques by them. But blues guitar became a part of the entire band ensemble with the 1940s and 50s. Blues music began to spread in whole of United States and beyond after moving out of its immediate country setting.
Now the glamour of the thriving music industry started adapting the music which remained unchanged of the initial musicians. The blues music began to be performed in electric guitars with the coming of1950s and it also involved sound distortion through amplifiers. This gave the recognition to blues music in recent times, and served as the foundation of the blues rock too. Among the popular guitarists of that time, was Jimmy Hendrix who also belonged to same school of music.
