I’m about to purchase my first car, but we’re putting the title in my fathers name so the monthly payments will be about half of what they would have been. Is there a way I can do this with car insurance as well? Will putting it in my fathers name make it lower as well? I’m assuming yes, but you never know.
This site helped me get cheap insurance:

you can get a price quickly, no hassle.
What are some faster cars available in the UK which have relatively low insurance costs.
I am 20 years old so cars such as Imprezas where the insurance is 4000+ is too much.
Are there any cars in the 1500-2000 insurance cost (3rd party fire and theft) which are usually cheaper to insure?
Thanks
Hi,
The Ford Focus ZX3 and ZX5 are sporty, have 5 speeds and handle great. Plus, they are known for being fast and are good on gas. Great economy car but age appropriate. You can get in that price range and they are inexpensive to insure. I have owned both and loved them!
Hope this helps.
I waited until I turned 18 until I went to get my drivers permit. I’ve had my permit since November 18 2009. I plan to stay on the permit until its expiration date.
I’m not sure what car I plan to purchase after that, something affordable (nothing over the top) and that will last quite awhile.
Now assuming all that, can any of you share with me what your car insurance payment is monthly, just an estimate of course. And throw in what type of car you have in so I can get a better idea.
I’ll be 19 at the time I finally get my license.
My parents will not be adding me to their insurance, I have to pay for this on my own and I’d like to start putting some money away towards it so that I can make the payments with no problem later on.
Are their any other things I can do to lower the cost of my car insurance as well?
Maybe you could get a quote from insurers you get from yellow pages,. the internet, the TV, the radio.
The only way to a cheap insurance is to get a non powerrful 4 door old beater, pay cash for it and insure it on state minimum, keeping your deductible as high as you can.
im paying 1136 a year? is that normal? and if not what company do you recommend switching to? which has the lowest rates?

only cover catastrophic loss.
Can you imagine what your auto insurance would cost if you made a claim every time you got a flat or a tune up ?
Or what your home owners insurance would cost if you made a claim every time a light bulb burned out or you wanted your carpet cleaned ?
Maybe that’s the reason medical insurance premiums are so high ?
autoinsurance.bebto.com – try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.
Does anyone else smell a legal zoo bigger than the mythological Ark
Most health insurance companies do not pay medical bills if you are injured in an accident and there is applicable auto insurance that should cover the bills. Usually you see this with the ERISA plans (employer sponsor plans). Some private plans will step up and pay the bill….but ERISA plans usually don’t.
Even when the health insurance pays….they usually send a medical lien to the at fault drivers company. That means that the health insurance plan gets paid back for the money they paid out from the settlement proceeds.
For the at fault drivers who would not have coverage under their liability coverage…..they have to use their health insurance.
Auto insurance rates usually have to be approved by the insurance department of each state. These rates are pretty tightly regulated as it is.
I don’t see health care reform affecting auto insurance rates.
I’m 18 years old and I live in Tallahassee, Florida.
I used to have a 1996 Mazda Protege DX and it cost me $127.00 a month with Acceptance Insurance. I never have had a ticket or have been in a wreck. I see some people who have way newer cars than I do and insurance is way cheaper for them. How much will insurance, on average, lower a month if I plan on taking online driver’s ed in the state of Florida?
Depending on how soon before you turn 19, maybe nothing. Drivers Ed discounts are usually only good for minors. And usually, it saves you enough over the three years to pretty much break even with the cost of the course.
Is the amount saved by drivers ed a lot, meaning does drivers ed pay for itself by helping lower your insurance cost?
Drivers education saves 15% for 3 years on your car insurance. Also i reccommened taking defensive driving which will also save you another 10% for 3 years. Unlike drivers ed you can keep renewing defensive driving every 3 years.
as a first car i’ve been told to get an old banger (something around 10years old no rust) low CC’s (engine size) in group 1 insurance but i don’t know what cars would be in group 1 (the lowest insurance cost) i’ve looked online for a list but not found anything substantial
what would you suggest
It should be 4-door, 4-cyls, not sporty. I would prefer Honda or Toyota… First time drivers usually have much more expensive car insurance, and it depends from car. You should compare insurance rates while choosing the car – for example here – autoinsurance.maclenet.com
I was involved with a hit and run, and I am 18 right now, when does my insurance start decreasing.
right now I am paying $1,100 every 6 months. Also after 2 years if I decide to buy something like a Nissan Altima SE-R with 6 cylinders, will my insurance be higher or lower than the cost mentioned.
Please help, thanks!!!
You can compare how the insurance quotes would change, for example here – autoinsurance.noneto.com
they have all state..
i was wondering can i do defensive driving course or ANYTHING to lower the insurance cost?
Take driver’s ed. Drop comprehensive/fire/theft cover and get collision only.
Raise your deductible to as high as you can get them to go.
Ask them for a good student discount.
I find the best car insurance by getting quotes from running two comparison tools:

I am looking to buy a car, I had a list of all these cars… but then when I had a quote put on them… I was shocked. I was looking at BMW 325i, Jeep Cherokee, and Mitshubishi Montero… each costing around 2500 for full coverage. What car brand or type would have a relatively low insurance cost for my age and gender group?
You need to be looking more at cars like a Honda Accord – economy cars to get a good price. Make a list of cars then go online & get quotes. You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did.

The lowest you will get are insurance catergory 1 cars which include:
The Citroen C1 / Peugeot 107 / Toyota Aygo (inc 1.4 Litre Diesel)
The Citroen C2 (1.1Litre models)
The Vauxhall Corsa (1.0 Litre models)
The Skoda Fabria (1.2 Litre).
The Volkswagen Fox (1.2 Litre)
It is generally the 1 Litre petrol engines (there abouts) that are cheapest to insure. Hope this helps.
Liability insurance is very important and most state auto insurance laws require that an individual maintain at least liability insurance on their automobile. What it does is protect you against costs that are associated with the damage and injury of another in an automobile accident in which you may be deemed at fault.
There are two parts to the policy. There is property damage liability and bodily injury liability. It is pretty easy to guess that property damage liability is going to protect you against any cost and damage that is associated with damaging another person’s physical property and that bodily injury liability is going to protect you against the personal injury inflicted on someone else as a result of the accident.
Usually, there are some numbers that a person may see on their policy. These numbers usually look like this: 50/100/25. Now what this means is that the policy is split up into three different amounts each policy can be different depending on what the individual chose when they opened the policy. In this case, 50/100/25 means that the insurance will pay for the bodily injury of an individual in an amount up to $50,000, will pay for the bodily injury costs on everyone in a vehicle in an amount up to $100,000, and will pay property damage costs up to $25,000.
Every vehicle requires its own level of liability insurance depending on what state you are located in. It is important to know what your state’s auto insurance requirements are so that you have an idea of what you would have to pay in your insurance premium.
The cost
Liability insurance is cheaper than full coverage insurance that also includes damages from theft, natural disaster, and vandalism. Liability only covers costs associated with an accident so that you do not lose your hard earned assets in a lawsuit. There are have been cases in which a person has been sued for more that what they have in coverage, but the liability insurance does lessen the blow. However, a person can pay for different levels of liability insurance to ensure that they will not be “taken for everything they’ve got.” Not having enough insurance can still have a heavy impact on a persons life when an accident occurs.
No one intends on hurting another and they usually do not purposely engage in an auto accident because there is so much trouble involved, including the possible loss of the vehicle. That is why it is important to carefully assess how much insurance you think you will need. Liability is rather affordable. Some states have a minimum requirement of 20/40/10, but you could carry something such as a 50/100/50 if you think you need it. The cost is still not going to be much.
Just remember
Don’t forget that if you set your limits too low you could be setting yourself up for financial disaster even though you have car insurance. This is to be considered carefully. It is easy to make the decision to save money by paying the lowest premium possible, but paying the lowest premium possible could later result in the loss of your assets. It is also important to remember that liability just covers bodily injury and property damage. If a tree falls on your home during a wind storm, it is then time to assess your options.
However, liability insurance will protect you from those nasty lawsuits that may come your way as a result of an accident. That in itself makes it more than worth the money because you have the peace of mind that most or all your assets are protected.
