With the cost of gas on the rise again, a lot of people are on the look out for better ways of commuting more than ever, more commuters are starting to car pool or use public transit. Many urbanites rely only on public transit and taxis to get around throughout the city; when they go on longer trips they rent cars. There are now at least 20 US cities where car-sharing clubs have been started. If you’re a club member you can rent a club owned car hourly. This gives people who seldomly need a car access to a vehicle without having to buy, maintain or store one while living in the city.
This is great until something happens. What are the consequences if you have an accident while using one of these vehicles? Who will be the responsible party to pay for injuries or damage?
You will most likely think that the club has insurance to pay for any accidents that occur, and it’s
possible. Although, you might not want to rely on the club’s insurance:
* It’s out of your control if the club is late with a payment and unknowingly has no coverage.
* Your particular vehicle may not be covered under the policy if it was not on the original policy. You have no guarantee that the club’s policy will automatically cover a newly acquired automobile.
* A policy condition may be ignored by the club, giving the insurance company amble reason to deny the claim.
* The policy itself may not include coverage to you for this particular type of loss.
* The policy may have low limits possibly to low to fully cover the loss.
As a car club member you most likely have no control over the amount and/or terms of the club’s insurance policy, nor will you have any say if claim arises. These same issues come up if you rent a car or borrow a friends. As odd as it may sound, you should think about purchasing your own Discount Car Insurance policy.
There are special Non-owners policies you can purchase from most well known insurance companies. This type of policy provides auto coverage to specifically named persons in the policy when they use an automobile they don’t personally own.
If you own a vehicle and have a policy this coverage is already added in for you, but if you don’t own a vehicle you will need to purchase this special coverage. The policy will include the following coverages for named individuals:
* Coverage for Liability (injuries or property damage)
* Medical Payment Coverage
* Uninsured or Underinsured Motorists Coverage
Every state offers their own coverage requirements, so be sure to ask your insurance agent when getting Free Insurance Quotes about this coverage in your area. If you happen to purchase an automobile, the policy will provide these coverages automatically for up to 2 weeks.
It’s critical that you know the insurance this policy offer only goes into effect after the vehicle owner’s coverage is exhausted. Also remember only specifically named persons are covered not all family members unless they are specifically named on the policy. This policy does not include any type of coverage for damage to the vehicle you are driving. When you speak with your insurance agent they can explain all the options available. Since this type of policy only offers limited coverage the cost may be considerably inexpensive.
Driving a vehicle always puts you at risk, whether you borrow, rent or own the Vehicle. Make sure you have the coverage in place encase of a large financial liability loss.

Will it be ok to cut out the no claims protection or is this a must, I have over ten years, is there any other way to keep it low.
Thanks
You only need one claim to realise the value of no claims protection.
It’s your choice.
Personally I would pay it.

I want to obtain a license to sell auto insurance in California but am confused about what courses I have to take.I know I have to take a 12 hour code and ethics class but I am uncertain if I have to take a 40 hour fire & casualty class or 20 hour auto limited lines. Thanks to anyone who can help!
Do you want to be able to sell insurance BESIDES auto? If so, you need the 40 hour class. For auto only, the 20 hour class.
If drivers who have taken a drivers education or safety course have fewer accidents, an insurer may discount that. Likewise, some cars are cheaper to repair, or do not get involved in high claims accidents. Those vehicles will cost less to insure. Insurance companies try to use their past experience to predict the future risk of a particular applicant. Car insurers also offer price brreaks for some things that save them money. If you combine more than one policy, they have not had to spend as many marketing dollars to get the business. So a company may offer a discount for multi-policy families. You may insure multiple cars or you may insure a home and a car to take advantage of this price cut. Again,, with so many factors that can affect your car insurance, it pays to compare. Use online quote forms, and the power of the internet, to save money and time on your policy! to learn more about all types of insurance we cater please visit our website at GetSafeInsurance.com

Do you realize how much you are at risk financially if you wreck your car or it gets stolen? Your auto insurance policy might not provide all the financial protection you need, if the value of your car is less than the balance of your auto loan. Gap coverage is designed to cover the difference between the value of your car when it was lost and the balance of your car loan.
This is also called Negative Equity. Having to continue to pay off your car loan every month, when you don’t even have your car anymore is probably not what you had in mind when you bought it.
Let’s say you lost your car in a hurricane or other disaster, one year after you purchased your car: Now let’s say you still owe $20,000 on your auto loan and your deductible is $500. Let’s also say your car was worth $15,000 at the time you lost it. The insurance company pays you $14,500. Then your Negative Equity or Gap is $5,500.
Gap Protection isn’t really insurance, it’s a Debt Cancellation Agreement. You could call it a waiver of the part of your auto loan contract that requires you to pay the difference between the value of your car and the amount still owed on your car loan. There are a few states that do consider Gap Protection a form of insurance, but most states do not.
Is Gap Protection for you? Talk to the person considering your auto loan. Car buyers who are putting little or no money down on a car may need Gap Protection. If you are transferring the balance of previous car loans into the current car loan or taking out an extended car loan like a 60 month loan you may need the extra protection. Any car buyer who will owe more than their car is worth needs Gap Protection.
You have to take figure out the expected depreciation on the car you are buying and the rate of equity accumulation through your auto loan. This will help you figure how big a gap you’ll have and for how long.
Some lenders or leasing companies include the coverage in the agreement for the their own protection. This is common in lease contracts. The decision to buy gap coverage is easy. Deciding who to buy it from is much more difficult.
You can get Gap Coverage for your car loan from your Credit Union or another lender, online sellers of gap protection, or your auto insurance company. Each option is different, so read on before you decide on an option.
On the Internet, it’s easy to explore these options. You can do a search for the information there or go to your favorite search engine like google or yahoo and use the keywords “gap protection” or “auto loan gap coverage”. Make sure that you check out any company you find on the web before you give them your credit card information. You don’t want to end up with a provider that won’t be there to help you cover the gap in your car loan if something happens.
Your Auto Insurance Carrier: Not all insurance companies carry gap protection for your car loan. Check with your agent. Check to see if they already included gap protection in your car loan and how much coverage they gave you. You may need more than they offer. The cost of gap protection is relative to the value of your car. The more expensive the car, the more it will cost, and the more coverage you need.
Also, very important to keep in mind. Your insurance company or other provider will continue to bill you for gap protection every month. It’s up to you to calculate and decide when you no longer need it. In other words you need to know when you will be out of the hole. You need to know when there is no longer a gap between the value of your car and the amount you owe on your car loan.
The Automobile Dealer or whoever gave you your car loan is another source for buying gap protection. This is done at the time you get your car loan so bring it up right away if you choose this option. Some lenders may let you purchase it later, but it’s best if you buy it when getting your loan. As soon as you drive the car off the lot, it becomes a used car.
The cost is normally a one-time charge, typically the same set price for all customers buying the same coverage. Buyers may roll the fee into the total loan amount and include it in the monthly loan payments. Dealerships usually do not have the best rate for gap protection. You may want to choose another option. The average price for gap protection through auto dealers is about $500. You may be able to get the same protection for your car loan through your credit union or bank for as low as $250.
Make sure your gap protection also covers the deductible. Look for other features such as automobile replacement or money towards a new car in the event something happens. So don’t let just price be your guide when choosing who to buy gap protection from.

California residents are known to pay some of the biggest rates when it comes to auto insurance in United States. Henceforth, all those who reside in Los Angeles are no exception. We all have a goal to keep the insurance rates as low as possible and thus you would have to access the level of coverage, just to make sure that you do not end up being over-insured. The next step after this important assessment would be to compare auto insurance rates from different companies in Los Angeles in order to pick the best rates for you.
Los Angeles is believed to have one of the highest accident ratios in United States and ironically also has the biggest percentage of uninsured drivers. Therefore, it would be mandatory to acquire auto insurance in Los Angeles.
Every state sets a minimum level of auto insurance coverage for all the drivers and thence it becomes extremely important to study the state laws before getting yourself insured. A lot of companies provide you with more auto coverage then you actually need. So it is essential to know your state laws and requirements before applying for quotes from various auto insurance companies in Los Angeles.
People buy all kinds of insurance with the intention of protecting their assets and in cases if you do not own a lot then getting the minimum level of coverage required by the law would be sufficient. On the other hand, if you own a home or land or any other property then it would be highly proactive to take necessary steps to protect these assets from any legal action in you are involved in an accident at any given time.
There are a few ways which can help you keep your Los Angeles auto insurance down. One of them is if you own an older vehicle that has been reduced in value; you could easily cancel your collision insurance. What happens in this case is that such coverage pays only for the damage of your vehicles, regardless of whose fault it was. Here, if your car is fully paid for then you may perhaps be better off by buying a new vehicle all together if your car is severely damaged.
If you happen to be in a situation where you are paying loan payments on your car, a lot of these lenders in the Los Angeles auto insurance market would want to ensure that your collision insurance is bought so that they get paid too if there is any loss.
However, once your vehicle is paid in full and you continue to pay the same amount of premium for auto insurance with less coverage, the insurance company will pay for the repairs after the accident up to the value of your vehicle at the time of the accident. This amount will be higher then what you originally bought the vehicle for.
To conclude with, there are loads of strategies that can help you acquire cheaper rates in a Los Angeles auto insurance market. All you need to know is your state laws and research the quotes accordingly.
