Estimated car insurance cost for an 18 year old beginner driver?

I waited until I turned 18 until I went to get my drivers permit. I’ve had my permit since November 18 2009. I plan to stay on the permit until its expiration date.
I’m not sure what car I plan to purchase after that, something affordable (nothing over the top) and that will last quite awhile.

Now assuming all that, can any of you share with me what your car insurance payment is monthly, just an estimate of course. And throw in what type of car you have in so I can get a better idea.

I’ll be 19 at the time I finally get my license.
My parents will not be adding me to their insurance, I have to pay for this on my own and I’d like to start putting some money away towards it so that I can make the payments with no problem later on.
Are their any other things I can do to lower the cost of my car insurance as well?

Maybe you could get a quote from insurers you get from yellow pages,. the internet, the TV, the radio.
The only way to a cheap insurance is to get a non powerrful 4 door old beater, pay cash for it and insure it on state minimum, keeping your deductible as high as you can.

How soon do I need auto insurance after getting my Driver’s License?

I’m going to be getting my Drivers License for the first time in a week (I am 16), and I was wondering how soon after I get my license do I need to have auto insurance to drive legally? I’d like to be able to drive the day I get my license, but my parents don’t want to add me to their insurance plan beforehand with the possibility of me failing the exam. Is their any kind of grace period that allows me to drive the day I get my license so I can wait until after I complete the test to purchase insurance?

This is weird….. I can’t remember how I did it.

Either…..

A. You are suppose to be insured already because you are operating it with a permit

or

B. The vehicle just needs to be insured in general, and when you get your license you can be added to the insurance immediately. Your name needs to be on the policy before you can drive alone though.

ok so im looking to get a car i have the money but for the sake of my parents they want me to get a low insurance car since i will be on there insurance and i was wondering if any one out there knew anything out how much a 85-90 Mazda RX-7 would cost me in insurance???!?!?!?!?!

What’s the average for starting license auto insurance agents? Do they only make commision or hourly too? Are the leads provided. Is it a hard industry to get into?

Breaking into insurance sales is very tough. Many agents have parents who own agencies, and learn the business that way. Many more work for an insurance company in marketing, etc. This allows them to learn the business, and then they can buy out an agency. There are a few companies that are willing to hire and train you. But those opportunities are few.

The best way for a person without connections or years of experience to break into the field is to get a customer service rep (CSR) position at an existing agency. The pay isn’t great, but the knowledge you gain will help you work your way into an agent position.

Agents work for commissions only. This is why there is a high failure rate. It take awhile for an agent to build up renewal commissions to be able to earn enough money to live on. As for leads, some companies are better than others. But in the end, if someone has a solid lead, they aren’t going to give it to you, they will take it themselves.

HI! im 17 and currently learning how to drive!
i was going 2 be put down as a named driver on one of my parents cars when i had passed but the insurance cost is insanely expensive! so my parents r going 2 buy a new car with a lower insurance cost, but we have no idea which one would be cheap for me on the insurance?!

if anyone knows of any cars which would be cheap for a new driver please help!

The lowest you will get are insurance catergory 1 cars which include:
The Citroen C1 / Peugeot 107 / Toyota Aygo (inc 1.4 Litre Diesel)
The Citroen C2 (1.1Litre models)
The Vauxhall Corsa (1.0 Litre models)
The Skoda Fabria (1.2 Litre).
The Volkswagen Fox (1.2 Litre)

It is generally the 1 Litre petrol engines (there abouts) that are cheapest to insure. Hope this helps.

My parents want me to take driver’s ed & get my license this year (at 16) to lower the cost of car insurance by the age of 21 or so. Will getting your license at a younger age really lower the price of your car insurance?

I don’t care how old or what car I just want to know which car gets the lowest insurance cost for a 16 year old.

Your parents car will be a good bet. If you have to get your own car, have your parents add you to their policy. Otherwise, get a car that is safe, slow and gets good gas mileage and the rates should be ok. Compact cars like a camery, kia, taurus, cavalier and etc.. should be good money savers.

I’m sixteen and seventh months, and plan on getting my license in about two months. But money is a little tight now at my house, and when my brother got his license on his sixteenth birthday (two years ago) the car insurance my parents pay for jumped an extra 1200 dollars a year.

So what can a teen do to lower the cost? IE; what type of car should I be driving, the best time to get my license, etc. I’m willing to hear any ideas. :)

Oh and if it means anything, my parents are with State Farm.

Get good grades so you can get the "good student" discount, put your name on your parents’ cheapest and oldest car only, and tell the company exactly how many miles a month you plan to drive and where.

Should be taking my driving test very soon.
Ive looked at cars i would like to have. But obviously the insurance is much to high.

Any body got any good ideas which would be a good car for me?
can pay up to £2000 for the car. because I’m not paying for it. all i have to fund is the insurance.

So any low insurance cars around?

I’m 17 and drive a Land Rover Defender, my insurance is £320 a year because my dad is the policy holder and i’m an additional driver, my insurance for me without my dad as policy holder would be about £4000. £320 is good considering it’s a £30 000 2.5 litre monster. Try getting your parents to do that for you.

As for cars, something small like a Clio or 207, go for a diesel because the running costs are cheaper and they are usually cheaper to insure as well.

We live in Florida, and my son has just turned 16, He wants to get his licenses but we don’t want our insurance to go up too much. From what I hear it is very expensive, yet i hear other people saying that some auto insurance company’s have very cheap rates for adding a first time driver. So if there are any other parents that know of a company that they use that is pretty cheap please let me know.
